What kind of advertising are you doing in the slowing economy? Do you advertise at all?

"Reputable Licenced Contractors"

OK I have a new type of rant for today. If you all can remember, just a few months ago a couple of "Reputable" contractors in Anne Arundel county got in over their heads with some homeowners who were less than satisfied with their projects. As a mater of fact it was something like 28 homeowners that were unhappy. Some of them had work done that was not finished, some work was less than standard and one home owner had no house left at all, thats right, the house had to be torn down because of shoddy work.
These are the type of contractors that give the rest of the business bad name, and I am truly disgusted. Since this situation was all over the TV and local papers I will not mention names. But I did do some research in Public Records to see what happened, I was shocked to see that these " Reputable " contractors had a list of suites a mile long. Who was it that failed to protect the public?

Spring is Here

Spring is here, and a lot of contractors are beginning to feel the crunch of the housing market. This is good and bad. Let me explain. For years, there has been a problem with an influx of people becoming contractors. A lot of these people had no business becoming contractors. First of all, they didn't have a clue on how to properly run a business let alone run a construction company. They don't understand how to properly bid on projects, manage them, staff them and complete them. These "Contractors"are the ones that will be out of business this year. Now for the Maryland Contractors who do have a clue, this is the time for you to shine. It's time to take your business to the next level. This is the year you are going to to have to learn how to market your company affectively and efficiently.

Web Design for contractors

As we start the Spring remodeling season, Maryland contractors can't help but wonder what this year will bring. With the ever growing fear of a dwindling economy, and the Housing market floundering, contractors will need to spend their advertising dollars wisely.

One way to do this is to get a good web site up and running. But it doesn't stop there. Once your site is live and on the web, you will need to market it as well. To do this you need to make sure the URL of your site is on every piece of advertising you have - business cards, yellow pages, work vehicles, yard signs, pens etc...You also need to market the site on the web and make sure it is properly Optimized for search engines. A properly designed site along with good SEO will, in time, be a major part of your business advertising. A web site does not take the place of your other advertising, but works well in conjunction with it. Don't have a web site? get one, because your competition already has one .
